Marietta G. Wacyk
Herkimer - Marietta G. Wacyk, 93, of Herkimer, passed away, Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Alpine Nursing Home.
She was born in Ilion on January 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Raymond and Martha Wright Shlotzhauer and she attended Mohawk Schools. She was married to Michael Wacyk on August 15, 1942 in Mohawk. Michael passed away on November 18, 2009. Marietta was employed as a Seamstress for Sehring Glove Factory in Herkimer for many years, until her retirement in 1979. She was a communicant of Christ Episcopal Church and a member of the United Polka League. She will always be remembered as a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
Marietta is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna Vandell of Mohawk; her grandchildren, Krista and her husband, Anthony Varvaro, Robert Gegler and Brian Wacyk; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Cano, Samantha Cano, Abigail Charles, Sarah Gegler, Jessica Gegler and Robert Gegler; one brother-in-law, Stephen Wacyk of PA; one sister-in-law, Carole Shlotzhauer of Mohawk; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son, William Wacyk; two brothers, Charles Shlotzhauer and Richard Shlotzhauer and two sisters, Florence Fennimore and Frances Matis.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning, October 27, 2018 at 10:00 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 11:00 AM from Christ Episcopal Church, 300 N. Main St. Herkimer, where Official Burial Office with Holy Communion will be celebrated by the Rev. Jill Stellman. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 3:00-7:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
