Obituary of Elaine Kroll
Richfield Springs - Elaine (Otrupcak) Kroll, age 88, passed away, December 7, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford with the comfort of her family at her side.
She was born Dec. 26, 1929 in Little Falls, the ninth child of Anna (Mizerak) and Stephan Otrupcak and one of 11 children. She spent her early years on Rollway Farm; a lovely hill top farm on the south side of Little Falls. In high school Elaine especially enjoyed girls chorus, graduating from Little Falls High School with the class of 1948.
In 1953 she married Edward Kroll of Richfield Springs and enjoyed a devoted marriage of 61 years. Elaine owned and operated a dairy farm with her husband, her mother-in-law Sophie (Hugick) Kroll and her son Edward on Cullen Road, Richfield Springs until her retirement in 1990. She worked hard yet she still managed to enjoy life and was known to burst into song when least expected.
Elaine was an avid reader who loved history, classical music and watching Jeopardy. Scrabble was her game which she thoroughly enjoyed teaching her grandchildren, making sure that each of them had a scrabble game available to them. She was social by nature, always ready to share a cup of tea and one of her notoriously delicious homemade oatmeal cookies. After Elaine retired she was grateful to have the opportunity to travel with her niece Kaaren Struble as well as with the Richfield Springs Senior Citizen group. Humble, loving and kind she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children Margaret Kroll and Alan Lincourt, Nora and Paul Dusseault, Edward and Donna Kroll; her grandchildren Ryan and Andrew Dusseault, Stephanie, Jennifer and Edward Kroll; brothers Paul and Mike Otrupcak; as well as many dear nieces, nephews and cousins- in- law. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward; sisters Ann, Sue, Betty, Kristine, Katherine and Eva; and brothers, Steve and John.
Her funeral will be on Saturday, January 12th at 11 a.m. in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort with Sister Mary Jo Tallman, officiating. Elaine’s family will receive family and friends between 10 and 11 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
