Obituary of Margaret Rose Wereszczak
Beverly Hills, FL - Herkimer, NY - Margaret Rose Wereszczak, age 88, of Beverly Hills, FL passed away while under the care of hospice at her home on March 1, 2019.
Margaret was born on November 3, 1930 in Gloucester, England to the late Charles and Harriet Powell. On July 12, 1975 she married Alek Wereszczak with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Margaret and Alek resided in Herkimer, NY and were Florida "snowbirds" that had called Citrus County their winter home for over 20 years. She was a founding member of the St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Iverness, FL where she also sang in the choir. Margaret was also a member of St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Church in Herkimer, NY. Prior to retirement, she was a piano teacher for many years and was excellent at knitting. She especially loved making beautiful sweaters for her grandchildren. While residing in New York, she had been a volunteer at the Folts Home for many years. Margaret was a wonderful cook that made delicious cookies and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband Alek, those left to mourn Margaret’s passing include her son, Peter Kaszycki and his wife Mary Anne of Atlanta, GA; daughter in law, Grace Kaszycki of Brookfield, CT; daughter in law, Tammy Pashley of Mohawk, N.Y.; niece, Lizabeth Wolfe and husband Allen of Rockledge, FL; stepchildren: Andrew Wereszczak and his wife Leslie of Oak Ridge, TN; Sharon Marosek of Rimrock, AZ, Janice Wereszczak and her husband David of Chapel Hill, N.C., Diane Bortle and her husband Walter of Cochranville, PA; sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by two sons: Paul Kaszycki in 1984, John Kaszycki in 2008; and siblings: Charles, Fred, Eric, Doreen, Vera and Evelyn.
Funeral Divine Liturgy will be offered on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness, FL with Fr. Sergious Gerken, Celebrant. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10:00 AM until the hour of service. Additional services for Margaret will be under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home in Herkimer, N.Y. with burial to take place at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in East Herkimer in the spring.
