Obituary of Floyd Grant
Mr. Floyd Ross Grant
Rome – Mr. Floyd Ross Grant, 59, of Rome passed away, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in St. Joseph's Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in Rome, New York on November 18, 1959, the son of the late Earl Raymond and Eda Ora Benedict Grant Sr. He attended local schools and graduated from Oriskany High School. Floyd was a self-employed contractor owning and operating G & G Construction, Rome for many years. He was an excellent mason and craftsman. He loved going to casinos and frequenting auctions.
Floyd is survived by two sons, Brian Grant and his companion, Amber Jachimek and Joshua Grant; one daughter, Amanda Grant and her children; two brothers and sisters in law, Earl and Judy Grant Jr. and Bill and Mary Ann Grant; two sisters and brothers in law, Edith and Dan Cottrill and Cynthia and Doug Zyga; his “adopted daughter,” Priscilla Deruby; his adored grandchildren, Scott Johnson, Hope Grant and Greyson Grant; two step-sisters, Dee Carro and Seda Spoon, two step-brothers, James and his wife, April Kane and John Grant Sr; he also leaves a huge array of friends especially, Barbara Jean Mastrangelo, Sheila and Bob Larson, The Longeretta Family, Steve and Pam Kinstle, Bob and Pearl Hierholzer, Joe and Tina Capanna, Dave Williams, the Chargo Family, Jody Gaff, and Gary Brockett; his beloved canine, Fluffy Grant and several cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his former wife, Hope Grant in 1998.
His funeral will be held Monday evening, May 20, 2019 at 7:00 PM in the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Rome where a funeral service will be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Wollaber. Calling hours will be Monday, May 20 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Bottini Funeral Home 120 W. Embargo St., Rome. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Frankfort.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Floyd's memory may be made to the trust fund for his grandchildren in care of Brian Grant, 5845 Scadden Rd, Rome, NY 13440. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
