Mr. Ronald G. Hoskey
Mohawk – Mr. Ronald G. Hoskey, 81, of Mohawk passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Bassett Health Care.
He was born in Utica, New York on July 4, 1939, the son of the late Alex and Anne Penc Hoskey. He attended New York Mills Schools and graduated with the class of 1958. He later received a degree in Landscaping from Rutgers University. In his youth he was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps Post 228 and the Starlighters. He was married to Dorothy Thompson on July 13, 1963. Ronald was a Manager of Maintenance Department for NY S & W Railroad, Utica, NY. He had worked for several golf courses, Sadaquada Golf Course, Yahnundasis
Country Club, Cedar Lake Country Club and was the Superintendent of Basin Harbor Golf Course in Vergennes, Vt. Ron was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and its Vestry. He was a 50 + year member of the Dorchester Lodge #1 Vergennes, Vt. and a Past Master; Past Master of the Mohawk Masonic Lodge as well as other organizations such as Life member of the NY S & W Historical Society, Philipsburg, NJ and Friend of the German Flats Town Park. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and loved music especially playing the trumpet and was in several area polka bands.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, George (Curry Rose) and Michael; one daughter, Heather (Andrew) Devitt; his grandson, Isaac; aunt, Amy Bell and sister-in-law, Faith Thompson.
His funeral will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 12:30 PM in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 588 Albany St Little Falls with Rev. Jack Whritenour officiating. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, Herkimer, NY. The Funeral will be available for viewing on the church’s Facebook page by going to their website, www.lfeec.org and clicking their Facebook pages Social Media. If you are not on Facebook you can email the church ifeec@outlook.com and the Rector will send you a link. In keeping with current guidelines, a face covering will be required and social distancing will be practiced.
