Herkimer - Marilyn Komendarek, 82, of Herkimer passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Masonic Care Facility.

Marilyn was born in Herkimer, New York on October 30, 1939, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Pijanowski Petykiewicz. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School. She was married to Edwin Komendarek on October 24, 1959 in St. Joseph's Church. Ed passed away on January 2, 2013 after 53 years of marriage. Marilyn was the owner and operator of Marilyn Komendarek Contents of Estate Sales, House Sales, and Appraisals throughout the Mohawk Valley for several years retiring in 2006. She was a life long communicant of St, Joseph’s Church and later St. Anthony’s and St. Joseph’s Church.  Marilyn was a member of the Herkimer Garden Club and a former member of the Herkimer Hospital Guild. 

She is survived by her dear son and daughter in law, Peter and Sharon Komendarek of Norwich; her cherished granddaughter, Meghan Komendarek; one brother and sister in law, Edward and Sandra Petykiewicz of Clark Lake, MI.; one sister and brother in law, Elaine and Robert Birrell of Bonita Springs, FL. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.                                                    

Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev Terence Healy and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7 at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave Frankfort. 

Marilyn will be remembered for her beautiful smile and fun sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the Masonic Care Community, 2150 Bleecker St, Utica, NY 13501 or Lupus Foundation of America, Central NY Chapter, 5858 E Molloy Rd Ste 173, Syracuse, NY 13211. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
