Bernard J. Prigge, Jr

 

New York Mills - Bernard J. Prigge, Jr, 87, of New York Mills passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 in with his family by his side.

 

He was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 27, 1934, the son of the late Bernard J and Catherine A. Doyle Prigge Sr. Bernard went to schools in Philadelphia and graduated in 1952 and later attended and received a business Degree from HCCC with the class of 1991. He served with the US Air Force for many years and was Honorably Discharged on September 3, 1965 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Cheryl Tomek on July 18, 1975 in New Hartford. Following his military career, he was employed by MDS for 22 years and later as a letter carrier for U S Post Office, Utica until his retirement in February of 2002. He was of the catholic faith and member of the American Legion Post 38, Herkimer. 

 

Bernard is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Prigge; two sons and daughters in law, Bernardo Felix Prigge Cruz and Raquel Rodriguez Rodriguez of Roseville, MN and Eric Scott and Anza Youngren of Auburgh, VT; one daughter and son in law, Nadine Marie and Andrew Dooley of Herkimer; one sister, Kathleen Geitner of Orlando, FL.;  his brothers and sisters in law, Ronald and Diane Prigge, Robert and Donna Prigge and Gerald and Beverly Prigge all of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Bernie Joel Prigge Rodriguez, Bernice Prigge Rodriguez and her husband, Andrew Rothe and Sarah Dooley; one great granddaughter, Dorothy Elizabeth Margaret Rothe and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Richard Prigge
  

His funeral will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at 12:00 noon in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
