Richard E. Lewis
Ilion - Richard E. Lewis, 72, of Ilion passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 in The Grand with his family by his side.
He was born in Ilion on December 3, 1950, the son of the late George and Viola Edwards Lewis He attended Richfield Springs schools and graduated from Richfield Springs High School. Richard served our country during the Vietnam War with the US Air Force and was Honorably Discharged on October 1, 1978 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Frances LoPatka on September 29, 1974 in Dolgeville, NY. Frances passed away December of 1980. Richard was a Machinist for Remington Arms, Ilion and later for Hercules Inc., Covington, GA. Richard was a member of Mohawk American Legion Post #25 and the Lions Club.
Richard is survived by his close friends, Dick Shypski, Dick Bouck, Kenneth and Lynnette Higgins, Heidi and Richard Barrette Ricky Barrette, Nathan Barrette and Amanda Coppola and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, George Thomas Lewis and his sisters, Joyce Biggers and Lynne Adams.
His graveside service will be held this spring in Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. There will be no public calling hours. His funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort. .
