Ronald A. Covey
Frankfort - Ronald A. Covey, 72, of Frankfort went to heaven to be with his beloved, Cindy after a short and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 3, 2023 at home with his family by his side.
He was born in New Hartford, New York on September 10, 1950, the son of Alan and Marjorie Ferguson Covey and he attended Frankfort schools. For many years he was employed on his uncle Billy Ferguson’s farm on Higby Rd. He met Cynthia Marie Joseph and had a blessed union of 31 years until her passing on December 9, 2021. Ronald was later employed by Oneida County BOCES, New Hartford, NY for 23 years until his retirement in 2009. Ron was a volunteer at London Towers and served Meals on Wheels, a Big Brother to Fred and was a member of United Public Service Employees Union. Cindy and Ron loved to travel, especially camping trips to Green Lake and the Adirondacks. They flew to Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Disney Orlando and Nashville. They took cruises to St. Thomas, Tortola, (largest of the British Virgin Isles) Key West, and The Bahamas. They did bus trips to NYC, Canada, Washington DC, Martha’s Vineyard, Provincetown MA, and Pennsylvania Amish Country. Ron loved to spend time with his friends at the trailer park and at Stewarts.
Ron is survived by his mother, Marjorie; one sister, Kim Covey of Frankfort NY; nephew, Jason Covey; niece, Nikki Covey; great niece, Jenna Covey two aunts, Doris Foster and Beverly Gado; Cynthia’s family, Sheryl and her husband, Jack O'Roark, Michele and her husband, Pat Hughes, Carol Brown and Jan Joseph and several cousins. He was predeceased by his beloved, Cynthia Marie Joseph and his father, Alan Covey.
His funeral will be held Saturday afternoon, February 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort where a funeral service will be celebrated by the Rev. Dwayne Durand. Spring interment will be in West Schuyler Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday, February 11 from 11:00 AM 1:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
