Mrs. Theresa Belmont

Ilion - Theresa Belmont, 90, of Ilion entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 16, 2023 with her family by her side.

She was born in the Village of Pastorano, Province of Caserta, Italy on May 19, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Angelina DelleFave Pugliese. Theresa and her parents came to America in 1947 settling in Brooklyn, NY. She attended and graduated from St. Johnsville Academy, Staten Island. She was married to Joseph Belmont on October 10, 1953 in St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, Brooklyn, NY. They shared a 40 year union, until his passing on June 28, 1993.

Theresa was employed as a seamstress for Joseph & Feiss, Co. Utica, NY for many years until her retirement in 1992.  Theresa was a communicant of Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church and a member of the Young At Heart Senior Citizens and the ILGWU. Theresa’s most prized possession was her family. Her happiest times were spent with her family gathered in her home. Those who knew Theresa understood that all were welcome in her home and at her table. Everyone was sure to leave with a smile on their face and a full stomach. Her recipes will continue through generations to come.

Theresa is survived by her children and their spouses, JoAnn and John Paoni of Ilion, Joseph and Angela Belmont of Cooperstown and Angela and Regina Piacentino of Utica; her cherished and loved grandchildren, Nicholas and Andrea Paoni, Melissa and Jacob Shatraw, Joseph and Jennifer Belmont, Stephanie and Kevin Drown, Michael Belmont and his fiancé Presley Favre and Jonah Belmont-DeGiglio; her great grandchildren, Carlo Paoni, Leyna Shatraw, Henry Shatraw, Joseph Belmont and Emilia Belmont and several cousins.

All are welcome to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 20th at 10:30am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. Her funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Theresa's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the church vestibule on Monday.
