Obituary of Catherine Anne Petzoldt

Catherine Anne (Wheeler) (George) Petzoldt  

 

Utica – Mrs. Catherine Anne (Wheeler) (George) Petzoldt, 91, affectionately known to many as Katie of Utica passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 in St. Luke´s Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.

 

She was born in Syracuse, New York on March 29, 1931, the daughter of the late John E. and Agnes D Maloney Wheeler She attended Oneida schools and graduated from St. Patrick's High School with the class of 1948. She later attended and graduated from Utica School of Commerce.

She was married to Albert George in 1954 in Utica. From that union they had 7   children   Albert passed away in September of 1991.

 

Catherine was united in marriage with Ronald Petzoldt in California in 1993. They had a loving marriage, loved traveling around visiting many states. The couple loved eating at their favorite restaurant’s and spending time with their family. Ron passed away on January 23, 2021.

 

Catherine was employed as secretary for Dr. Giacano, Port St Lucie, Fl. and worked for several different physicians in Pt. St. Lucie. In her spare time you could always find Katie sitting by the water at the beach reading a good novel. She loved to tend to her beautiful garden and loved to cook for her loved ones. Katie had the most infectious laugh and a very witty humor.   Catherine had a very loving and personal relationship with each of her grandchildren.  To them she was affectionately known as Sita.

 

Catherine is survived by her children, Yousif George of Boca Raton FL, Sandra Rose  George Utica, Mary Agnes  Bonacci and her companion John Lavalla of Utica, Michael George of Pt. St. Lucie  FL,  Anthony George of Pt. St. Lucie Fl. and  Nancy Ann George of Boynton Beach FL; two brothers, David Wheeler and Hugh Wheeler both of Oneida; two sisters , Mary Ellen (Wheeler) Willower  of  Oneida and Anne Wheeler of Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Rose Nelson of Utica; daughters in law, Claudette George of Whitesboro and Nancy George Stewart Fl; Doreen George Pt. St. Lucie  her cherished grandchildren, John Shanebrook, Marc Bonacci, Michael George, Jennifer Valmer, Nicole George, Joseph George, Albert George, Anthony George, Rachyl  Newton, Samantha George, Allesandra Follano, Krystyna George and Gabriella Rivas. 15 Great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, John George on May 7, 2011; one great granddaughter, Miabella Esposito-George on June 6, 2020 and one brother, John Wheeler.

 

Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning, February 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Gonzaga Maronite Church, 20 Rutger Street Utica with Father Boutros El Hachem, officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in the spring.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort.

 

The family would like to give a special thank you to the 6th floor nursing staff at St Luke’s Memorial Hospital with special mention of Kim, Kayleigh, Naeem for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
