My Cousin Carmine - you were one of the last of the strong characters I have known. I loved listening to your stories, how you never backed down, and stood up for you and your family. The generic personalities of today do not hold a candle to you straight forwardness. Love you, like you, whatever it was, one knew what they were getting - honest thought as you conversed. I miss that. Your stories were entertaining to say the least. Please watch out for the family from up above - we will remember you forever.

Cousin Carmine
"The Man, the Myth and the Legend "
Growing up I would always here these fantastic stories about cousin Carmine. Tales about his gambling, his carpentry skills, his joyful nature, his rebellious nature, the supposed associations with "shady characters" and of course his love of family. I never separated truth from fact and this bigger than life character became imprinted in my memory as a child. Only as an adult did I realize that Carmine was just a kid a little older than myself at that time. Over the years I passed these stories about Carmine on to my family and like me, Carmine came to be bigger than life to them.
A few years ago we were visiting my cousins Mary and Rosemarie at there home in NY. It was the rare occasion when Carmine was home and came out to visit with me, my wife Linda and our son John who had brought our grandson Charlie who was 4 or 5 at the time. A wonderful day with Carmine teaching us his methods of gambling, his diet and health tips. Lots of laughter and smiles. At some point Carmine asked John if he could give Charlie something to drink. John who was fanatical about what Charlie could eat and drink and even cooked his meals for lunch at school said it was fine. Carmine stuffed Charlie with chocolate milk, chocolate candy and Ensure. John looked on approvingly. Later that night at home we asked John why he had let Charlie have chocolate milk and candy. John's answer was that if cousin Carmine wanted Charlie to have nails to eat he would have said yes because he wouldn't dare say no to Cousin Carmine. Such was the Legend. We will miss Carmine but his stories live on in our family.

My Uncle Carm was larger than life, strong, always laughing and always ready to "cheers" with me over a tall, cold glass of milk! He reinforced my parents teaching that "hard work always pays off" and "if you do something, do it right". Big Red was always sparkling and everything was always cared for and tending to. He had the best laugh and looked more and more like Grandpa every year. Our last adventure together was from Herkimer back to Florida where he shared so many stories, many laughs, smiles and even included an epic taste test in search of the perfect protein shake!. We were beyond honored to take his first flight with him since his army days in Germany and we listened to stories about that time with awe and admiration. I am so happy you are reunited with Nana and Grandpa Uncle Carm, I will keep the milk "cheers" going! Love to you, Heather

From time to time over the holidays our families would meet and Aunt Kate and our neighbors would create wonderful meals - and cousin Carm would show up for a while to socialize. I remember his great smile - hint of mischief - and how he made folks feel happy. May he rest in peace. Rocky Jr

Trips to Florida with you throughout my childhood. Coffee at Howard Johnsons. Vernon Downs to bet on the horses. Teaching my how to drive in Big Red. Our drive when I was 18 from NY to Florida where we went to the casinos in the city on our way (gosh that was fun!)... and then stayed at your family's Hollywood, Florida home. Picking oranges straight off the trees in the backyard. Helping you when you did your top quality carpentry work. Pranking you when you'd stay with me when you were home for the summers (boy I still laugh when I think about the nail polish and the poppers incidents LOL!)
I have soooo many beautiful, hysterical and loving memories of you Dad. My last two visits with you these past two years (even with your dementia) were beautiful and I know you connected with me and knew who I was ... the laughter we shared, the jokes, and eye contact ... your baby will love you forever daddy <3
You are missed but you are still held so very close in the hearts, minds and spirits of all of us who LOVE you ... and we will see you again. I love you always and forever dad.
Your daughter,
Michelle

I have a few favorite memories of my father however, my fondest memory is when I was living in Debary, Fl in 1996-97. Dad and I would go bowling on Sundays together.. $5 and you could bowl as many games as you could in 3 hours.. it was so much fun and I had Dad all to myself... I love you Dad.. you will always have a special place in my heart..

Carmen was my good friend when we were growing up in Herkimer.
He was always there when you needed him. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need. So pleased to be able to visit with him and his gracious sisters in Florida who took wonderful care of him. Rest in peace Carm.

Uncle Carm: Wow ... I distinctly remember four things that were synonymous with my "cool" Uncle. They were: 1.) those tight white t-shirts he'd wear that showed off his muscles. Man, he was strong. 2.) the fact that he smoked was unique; he was the only family member to smoke (that I knew about). That made him such a rebel and I would watch him smoke and wish I could be that cool. 3.) and finally Big Red. That fire engine red truck he'd drive around. Always clean and the inside was spotless. Full of tools. When I was home and I'd come around the corner and see that truck parked in our driveway I would feel the excitement of seeing my favorite Uncle. And finally, 4.) that booming laugh. When he'd laugh it'd start out low in volume and would grow to a point where you could hear his chuckling from across the house. Growing up you weren't always in my life but the moments you were I cherished. You're in a better place Uncle Carm ... say hi to Nana and Grandpa for me and I know that you're up there in heaven making sure everything is fixed: tables more secure, doors less squeaky, and necessities being built from scratch. Love to you.

I haven't seen cousin Carmine in quite a few years. What I remember most is when I was a young girl he would come to my mother's house for dinner a few times a week when he was working in the Syracuse, NY area...oh, how I loved to hear him laugh, and he always was so engaging in conversation with my mom and dad. His smile could light up a room.

My Uncle Carm was special to me as a youth. He would give me rides in his convertible, have me meet his male friends, and let me watch he and my grandfather play cards in my grandmother's basement. I also remember my grandfather, my uncle and I watching Tarzan on TV as I awaited my parents to pick me up from my grandparents' house. I remember as a young adult he helped pay the way for me to go to my grandfather's funeral, and also invited me to a casino with him in the Bahamas...as long as I brought more than the $100 that I wanted to bring!! Rest in Peace Uncle Carm.

I can remember back living in Florida and my brother Carmine would come to my house and stay with us. He would go to the beach to help Chee-Chee, who ran a hamburger stand, and help him. When Bob and I would go and visit at the beach, my brother would make us hamburgers and french fries....and we did not have to pay! There are many good memories I have of my brother and I know now he is enjoying his peace with my mom and dad and my husband, Bob. I send you my love.

I remember June 6, 1938. My brother was born on George Street, Herkimer, N.Y. I was 4+ years old. My mother was resting on her bed with my brother by her side. I was so excited that I had a brother, I jumped up and down, and by accident, I bumped his head. I cried and said I was sorry. My mother was very upset and was crying. Mary Molinaro Fiala, a special friend, was in the bedroom and calmed my mother. You were a good brother, and will always hold a special place in my heart. God Bless you. Love you. Your sister Mary.

My brother, Carm was a real gem! I have fond memories of him and a very close relationship. Just shared with my husband that I taught Carm how to dance (in our kitchen) “slow dance” and jitterbug” and he enjoyed that very much.l. Had a lot of good and special time together. It’s a great loss, but he’s at peace now. He was the only son with 4 sisters and we treated him like the “King” he was. Love forever, dear brother. Sister Janet

My brother Carm was the best brother and would not want any other. He was full of fun and would talk to people that he didn't know. They became friendly with each other. He would say if anyone needed a meal he would buy it for them. God Rest your soul, Carm. Love you and will miss you.
