Grace Dyer DeSimone

Rome - Grace Dyer DeSimone, 84, of Rome passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Lutheran Home.

Grace was born in Harrisville, PA on February 24, 1939, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Gertrude Grace Grossman Dyer. She graduated Edinboro University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. Grace was employed at Oneida County Department of Social Services as a supervisor until her retirement in 2002. She was a faithful communicant of St. Louis Gonzaga Church. One of her happiest moments was meeting Pope John Paul II on a trip to the Vatican. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting and traveling.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Katherine Davies of Rome; two sons Richard and his wife, Sharon Davies, of NC. and Charles and his wife, Fuyuko Ikehara of New Hartford; two sisters, Martha Blair and Susan Lightner of PA.; her grandchildren, Melissa Richlin, Liam Davies, Connor Davies, Owen Davies, Noelle Davies and Jack Davies; two great grandchildren, Lucas Brewer and Isabella Brewer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Reba Kuhn and two brothers, John M Dyer and Ralph L Dyer. 

Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 23 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort. A funeral service will be celebrated by the Fr. Boutros “Maher” El Hachem on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM in St. Louis Gonzaga Church, 520 Rutger St, Utica. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
