Obituary of Harold A Goodwin
Schuyler- Mr. Harold A. Goodwin, 51, of 523 Mower Road passed away on the homestead on July 16, 2023.
Harold was born in Ilion on May 22, 1972, the son of the late Harold D. and Rita Mower Goodwin. He graduated from West Canada Valley Central School. Harold, his sister and brother-in-law, Dale and Scott, and his niece, Codi are the proud fifth generation on the family farm, the Edgewood Farm. Harold could often be found on a piece of equipment, as he was a skilled operator and an avid logger. When not in the woods, you might find him on a tractor in the field, or in his early days, at the Herkimer County Fair where he loved to participate in the tractor pull contest with his father and sister. In the winter, he enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting whitetail deer and coyotes. You were always guaranteed a good conversation and a few laughs over coffee with Harold. There were many special moments and laughs shared with Harold and the family when sister, Donna, a.k.a. the family sheriff, arrived! Harold was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He had a heart of gold and his love was always felt by those around him.
Harold is survived by his two children who are his pride and joy; his son, Harold Nathan Goodwin, and daughter and son-in-law, Hana & Matthew Carney; Five sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion and James Hall, of Middleville, Betty and Bob Kemler, of Newport, Donna (who is his special guiding light) and Thomas Gross, of Schuyler, Dale and Scott Worden, on the homestead and Lori and John Des Jardins, of Schuyler; an aunt, Shirley Hayes of Kansas City, MO; a special niece, his “Pal” Codi Worden and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His funeral will be held Saturday morning July 22, 2023 at 11:00 with family and friends attending at the family cemetery on the farm, with Doug Purinton officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:30 until the time of the service. Harold would love you to come as you are, blue jeans and bare feet welcome! His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
