Obituary of Frederick C. McCumber, Jr.
FRANKFORT- Frederick “Fred” C. McCumber Jr. the unofficial Mayor of Frankfort, passed away at the age of 60, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Wynn Hospital, after sustaining injuries due to a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident.
He was born on January 1, 1964 in Augsburg, Germany a son of the late Frederick C. Sr and Mary (Calitri) McCumber. Fred graduated from local schools and went on to be employed as a stock clerk for the Great American in Ilion.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Kathryn (Larry Barkley) Porter, Deborah (Joseph) LaVeck, Michael (Michelle) McCumber, Stephen (Sheryl) McCumber and Angelina (Stephen Schenkenfelder) McCumber; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and one great nephew and many special friends and neighbors whom he loved life family.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 4 PM to 6 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Funeral services will commence immediately following visitation at 6 PM at the funeral home. Spring interment will be in Oak View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Fred’s name may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The McCumber family wishes to send a huge thank you to that special angel who stayed and comforted Fred until his First Responders arrived.
