Robert E. Stokey
Herkimer - Robert E. Stokey, 86, of Herkimer, peacefully passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
Bob was born in Herkimer, New York, on October 7, 1937, the son of the late John and Helen Hugick Stokey and graduated from Herkimer High School. He was married to Barbara Harrigan on November 7, 1959, in Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Bob, a machinist, was employed by Chicago Pneumatic Tools, Utica, until his retirement. He was a regular communicant of Saint Joseph's Parish in Herkimer as well as Blessed Sacrament. With a natural affinity for the outdoors, Bob was an avid gardener and hunter. Though soft spoken, he valued hard work and sustainability to continually provide for his family. Bob will always be remembered for his lifelong commitment to those close to him and quietly demonstrating the values of a life well lived.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Stokey of Herkimer; three sons, Robert Stokey, Jr., of Manville, NJ, Shawn Stokey of Mohawk, and Ryan Stokey of Herkimer; three daughters and one son-in-law, Suzanne Simone of Sharon, VT, Kellianne Morgan of Flowery Branch, GA, and Barbara and her husband, James Costello of Herkimer; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Patrick John Stokey on December 24, 2022; one brother, John, and two sisters, Dorothy and Stella.
His funeral will be held Thursday morning, September 19, 2024, at 9:15 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Babiuch, Pastor. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4pm-7pm at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
Bob’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Little Falls Hospital’s Dialysis Unit for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, Herkimer.
