Obituary of Grace M. Heidel

Frankfort - Mrs. Grace M. Heidel, 97, of 226 First Ave. passed away Friday, February 24, 2017 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, NY with her family by her side.
She was born in Bradevelt, NJ on July 10, 1919, the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Marietta G. Daly Maher.
Grace graduated from Freehold High School, NJ in 1936 and Florence O'Shea's Business Institute, Red Bank, NJ in 1938. She worked in state as well as federal civil service positions advancing to executive secretary at Camp Evans Signal Laboratory, Belmar, NJ. It was there that she met her dear husband, Robert J. Heidel. They were married December 26, 1950 in St. Gabriel's Church, Bradevelt, NJ.
Grace and Robert resided in Freehold, NJ for several years where they raised their seven children before relocating to Seekonk, MA in 1970. Robert Passed away on April 21, 2005. He was Vice President, Emeritus of the Entwistle Co. Hudson, MA. Grace has lived with her daughter, Beverly, and her family in Frankfort, NY since 2013.
Grace is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard R. and Sherri Heidel of Green Bay, WI, Gary J. and Marilyn Heidel of Warwick, RI, Paul A. and Nancy Heidel of Laramie, WY and David M. and Michele Heidel of Tallahassee, FL; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Beverly and William Gregory of Frankfort, NY, Janet M. and Gordon Folse of Fredericksburg, VA and Dorothy J. and James Erickson of Fond-du-Lac, WI; twenty-seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one grandson, one brother and three sisters.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 412 S. Frankfort St. Frankfort, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:30 AM in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, E. Providence, RI. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Chapel, 2209 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501.
