Obituary of Elizabeth Betty Barrett

Frankfort - Mrs. Elizabeth C. Barrett, 99, formerly of Litchfield St. passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Presbyterian Home Of CNY.
She was born in Herkimer on December 26, 1912, the daughter of the late Pietro and Giovanina Borachiello Averson and she attended Herkimer schools. She was married to Anthony Barrett on February 10, 1934 in St. Anthony's Church, Herkimer. Anthony passed away on May 14, 1976. Elizabeth was employed by My Boys Shop, Utica for many years until her retirement in 1978. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church and a member of the Amen Choir, Friends Of The Frankfort Library, Altar Rosary Society, Young At Heart Senior Citizens, Catholic Daughters Court St Bridget and the Christian Mothers. Betty always felt her family and her church were the most important things in her life. She was an avid sports fan and loved to cook, crochet and play bridge.
Elizabeth is survived by one son and daughter in law, Robert and Donna Barrett of Frankfort; one daughter and son in law, Maryel and John Wallace of Ilion; her grandchildren, Shane and his wife, Brenda Barrett, Christopher and his wife, Laura Wallace, Eric Wallace and Elizabeth Wallace; two great grandsons, C J Wallace and Chase Wallace; two brothers & sisters in law, Ted and Marie Averson of Whitesboro and Richard and Celia Averson of Cooperstown; two sisters, Adeline Polizzi of CA and Mary Caiola of Frankfort; her sister in law, Julia Barrett of Little Falls and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Francis Averson, Thomas Averson and Louis Averson and three sisters, Margaret Padula, Doris Dangler and Yolanda Yacovelle.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 5-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
