Mr. Anthony A. Licari
Frankfort - Mr. Anthony A. Licari, 91, of Fifth Ave. Ext. passed away, Thursday, May 11, 2017 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Frankfort on October 19, 1925, the son of the late Salvatore and Cologira Scamardo Licari and he attended Frankfort Schools. He was married to Marie Kempa on January 27, 1953 in the US Army Chapel in Dornigheim, Germany. Marie passed away on September 25, 2009. He served in the US Army during World War II and was Honorable Discharged on April 30, 1946. He later served with the US Navy aboard the USS Missouri from 1947 until his Honorable Discharge on June 13, 1950. On June 14, 1950 Tony joined the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged on June 1, 1953 with the rank of Corporal. He was employed as a Security Officer for Remington Arms Co. for 34 years until his retirement in 1982. Anthony was also employed as a Deputy Sheriff for the Herkimer County Sheriff's Department for 18 years and was an officer for both the Village and Town of Frankfort. For his Honorable Service, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal Germany, State of New York Adjutant General Medal For Merit with One Silver Star, New York State Assembly Citation Medal for Merit with Silver Star, Republic France Consulate General Certificate of Recognition and a Diploma. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the DAV Stars and Stripes Chapter 82 and the Frankfort American Legion Post 845.
Anthony is survived by one daughter and son in law, Barbara and John Bouck of Altmar; two sons, Anthony and Marie Licari of Frankfort and Michael Licari of San Diego; one brother, Sam Licari of Ft. Herkimer; his loving companion, Helen Tripple of Frankfort; seven grandchildren, Anthony and his wife, Laura Licari, Ryan Licari, Jamie Licari, Matthew Licari, Michael "Mikey" Licari, Remi Licari and Gianna Licari and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Bennie Licari, Louis Licari and Anthony Licari and three sisters, Phyllis Costanza, Angela Tamburro and Mary Guido Aiello.
His funeral will be held Monday Morning at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In keeping with Tony's wishes, there will be no public calling hours.
