Herkimer - Mrs. Vera P. Keblish, 86, of 550 Osborne Hill Rd. passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Valley Health Services. She was born in Herkimer on September 16, 1925, the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Typkewicz Ptasznik. She attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1943. Vera later attended Warsaw School of Nursing and received her degree as a Registered Nurse. During World War II, Vera interned at Walter Reed Hospital, Washington DC, helping the returning soldiers. She was married to Nicholas J. Keblish on October 31, 1953 in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church. Nicholas passed away on April 8, 2000. Vera was the Head Nurse at Herkimer Memorial Hospital's Maternity Ward until her retirement in 1976. She was an active member of SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and it's R Club. Vera is survived by three sons and daughters in law, Stephen and Joanne Keblish of Herkimer, Nicholas and Margaret Keblish of Holland Patent and David and Helene Keblish of Henrietta; three grandchildren, Stephen Keblish, Jr., Bradley Keblish, and Catherine Keblish and her fiancé, Justin Bowman; her sister in law, Irene Ptasznik of Ilion and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandson, Todd Keblish on July 7, 2006, two brothers, Chester Ptasznik and Joseph Ptasznik and one sister, Stella Snell. Her funeral will be held Monday morning at 11:00 AM in S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 305 Main Rd., E. Herkimer with the V. Rev. John Udics and Archpriest James M. Jadick, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery later in the spring. In keeping with Vera's wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Envelopes will be available in the vestibule of the church on Monday morning. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S.
