Herkimer - Mrs. Eva L. Macrina, 94, formerly of Dewey Ave., passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in the Folts Home with her family by her side. She was born in Herkimer on December 22, 1917, the daughter of the late James and Jennie Fiore DiMatteo and she attended Herkimer Schools. She was married to Nicholas A. Macrina on September 24, 1938 in St. Anthony's Church by the Rev. Gustav Purficato. Nicholas passed away on September 22, 2002. Eva was employed by the A & P, Herkimer, for many years and later as a Floor Lady for Duofold, Mohawk, until her retirement in 1981. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church. Eva is survived by her daughter in law, Maryellen Macrina of Dryden; her son in law, Gareld Gallagher of Herkimer; four grandchildren, Cheryl Gallagher of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, Gareld Lee Gallagher of Denver, CO, Joseph Macrina and his wife, Sarah of Dryden, Christopher Macrina and his wife, Allisa of Huntersville, NC; her great-granddaughter, Lillian Macrina; her brother in law and sister in law, Ezzio and Helen Macrina of Herkimer; her two special great nephews who always brought a smile on her face, Tino and Noah and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one daughter, Patricia Gallagher on October 18, 1995, one son, Joseph Macrina on April 26, 2003, and five sisters, Josephine DeLuke, Rosemary Moschetto, Gloria Piazza, Mary Nocito and Cora Lore. Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 AM in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer with Rev. Thomas Lawless, officiating. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
