John, Linda and Sue-I am so very sorry for your loss. I would always walk by his barbershop window and wave to him, motioning that I wanted him to cut my hair. He would laugh and wave back, motioning me to come in. He was such a nice man and fine gentleman. The obituary mentioned a lot of nice things he did which I did not know about-but I am not surprised. My Dad was so competitive with him but really liked Augie (they would cut each others hair every 3 weeks or so). We lost my Dad about 10 years ago and we miss him. I can see them in heaven now, cutting hair and worrying about what each other is charging for a haircut or what days' they will be closed.
God bless all of you. JJ Sharrino

When I was a little boy, my father, Abie Goldberg, used to hold my hand while Augie cut my hair. Then in 1968, when I came home from college with long hair, he nearly broke my arm until Augie cut my hair. Augie was a great guy and a card carrying member of the 'greatest generation'.

John, Linda, Susan and families,
We were saddened to hear that Augie had passed. First Avenue will never be the same. We have fond memories of Augie and the "neighborhood", too many to write. We will treasure each one. Augie will surely be missed driving his "caddy" around Frankfort. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I grew up with my Dad and brother going to Auggie's to get their hair cut every week. Though I never went into his shop, I feel like I knew him through my dad and brother. God Bless You Auggie, May you Rest In Peace.

John, Linda and Susan. Your Dad was the best. As a kid I delivered newspapers to his barber shop and he always was the best tipper.
He was my barber for many years and waiting in his shop listening to his stories was an experience.
While on the FS School Board. I always received advice from Augie using his experiences as a Town Councilman.
And, he was the best barber ever!
Condolences to you.
