Herkimer - Mrs. Anna Politylo, 90, of 505 Bellinger Ave passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in her home. She was born in St. Johnsville on August 13, 1921, the daughter of the late Michael and Julia Yanko Rapacz. She attended St. Johnsville schools and graduated from St. Johnsville High school with the class of 1938. Anna received her Bachelor's Degree from Albany State Teachers College in 1942 and her Master's Degree in French from University of Vermont. She was married to Michael Politylo on July 31, 1948 in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Anna was employed by St. Johnsville Central School, Hartwick Schools and later for Baldwinsville Central School. Mrs. Politylo was the French Teacher for Herkimer School System for many years until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church and it's Sisterhood and the NYS Retired Teachers Association. Anna is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Politylo; one daughter & son in law, Mary Ann & Wasyl Matveychuk of Newton, MA; two sons & daughters in law, Robert & Beverly Politylo of Amesville, OH and Tom & Paulette Politylo of Herkimer; one brother & sister in law, Richard & Mary Rapacz of Essex Junction, VT; her grandchildren, Bethany Politylo, Christopher and his wife, Kari Politylo, Vyacheslav Matveychuk, and Anna Matveychuk; one great granddaughter, Ariana Politylo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Michael Rapacz, Raymond Rapacz and John Rapacz and two sisters, Helen McNamee and Rose Rapacz Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Rev Fr Ivan Semko, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 7-9 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Friday at 7:30 with Father Semko officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Anna's memory may be made to St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Moore Ave., Herkimer, NY 13350 or Alzheimer´s Association Mohawk Valley Chapter, 258 Genesee Street, Suite 509, Utica, NY 13502 Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Anna's online memorial page by going to www.iocovozzifuneralhomes.com
