Bloomfield Hills, MI - Mrs. Julia A. Eskoff, of Bloomfield Hills, MI, passed away on June 15, 2011 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI with her beloved husband, Stephen, by her side.
Julia was born in Frankfort on December 28, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary DeLuke Barberio. She attended Frankfort schools, graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School and was later a business student at Utica School of Commerce. She was married to Stephen on September 24, 1949 in St. Mary´s Church. Julia was employed by Remington Rand, Ilion, General Electric, Utica and later worked as an administrative bookkeeper for Somerset Bus Company, Mountainside, NJ. Julia founded the Saint Vincent & Sarah Fischer Center Auxiliary in Farmington Hills, MI where she worked tirelessly as a volunteer for 20 years. Julia was also instrumental in the founding of the new Bloomfield Township Senior Center in MI and co-founded the Red Blooms women's group. She was a communicant of St. Owens Church, Bloomfield Hills, MI. She was also a past member of the American Legion Post #845 Auxiliary in Frankfort.
Julia is survived by her husband Stephen, Bloomfield Hills, MI and her daughter, Denise Eskoff and William Schwerd of Greenfield, NY and their extended family. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her sisters Catherine and her husband, Joseph Paratore, Dorothy and her husband, Charles Jacopelle, Rose Barberio, Mary Frances (Chickie) and her husband, George (Shank) Green, Josephine and her husband, Frank (Corkey) Cortez and Theresa and her husband, Robert Harris; her brothers Dominick Barberio and his wife, Mary and Gregory Barberio and his wife, Beatrice; her niece, Mary Jean Paratore Nikolassy, two nephews, George F. Green, Jr. and Joseph F. Barberio.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning 9:00 to 10:00 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
Donations in memory of Julia may be made to the Bloomfield Township Senior Center, 4315 Andover Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302 or Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 414 S. Frankfort St, Frankfort, NY 13349. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
