New Hartford - Mrs. Josephine Ellen (Ball) Macrina, age 47, lovingly known as JoEllen was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 after her courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded with the love and support of her family and friends. She was born in Utica, NY on March 3, 1964 to Kathleen (Macri) Ball of Frankfort, NY and Delbert Ball of Richmond, VA. She graduated in 1982 from Ilion Central High School and attended HCCC.November 30, 1985 marked the beginning of her 25 year journey through life with her husband, Michael Macrina. JoEllen was previously employed by Great American as an Office Manager, and spent the last 14 years with the New Hartford Central School District, a job which she truly enjoyed and made many wonderful friends. JoEllen and Mike were blessed with three beautiful children; Michaela, David, and Danielle, all living at home. They were the joy of her life and she cherished every minute with them. Her Life was centered around her family and all the accomplishments they have achieved. Her family takes comfort at this very difficult time in knowing that JoEllen is now resting in peace with the Lord. JoEllen lived a blessed life because of her faith, love of family, strength, and determination. She is our Hero and Role Model. JoEllen was truly an angel on Earth. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Her unselfish acts of love, generosity, and kindness, extended to all who were fortunate enough to know her. JoEllen is survived by her beloved husband and her children at home. Also, her grandmother Ellen Ball of Ilion, her mother Kathy Ball and Scott Leon, her father Delbert Ball and Audrey Harwood. Her siblings; Delbert and wife Susan Ball and their children Erika and Megan of Herkimer, Robert Ball and wife Kathy Girantino and their children Sheena and Kayla Goss of Frankfort and Regina Ball and her children Matthew McLean and Jacob Blovat of Ilion. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Sandra and George Majka of NY Mills, Pamela Woodbeck and Janice Miller of Herkimer, Sharon Yager of Mayfield, Cheryl and David Culver of Mohawk and a host of nieces and nephews. JoEllen is pre-deceased by her grandparents Stanley Ball, Josephine and Louie Macri, sister-in-law Corrine Short, and brothers-in-law Joseph Short, Joseph Madison, and Walter Madison. The family would like to thank Dr. Alicia DeTraglia and her staff at the Faxton Cancer Center, St Luke's Hospital, Hospice and Palliative Care, Roswell Cancer Institute, Pastor Tim Burns, and her extended family at the First Assembly of God, for their care, compassion, and many prayers. JoEllen always wanted to help others. Therefore, it was her wish to donate her body to Syracuse University Hospital for Medical Research. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. It will be held at First Assembly of God, 9427 Maynard Drive in Marcy, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to St. Luke's Hospital, or Hospice and Palliative Care.
