Obituary of Carrie Sciortino

Frankfort - Mrs. Carrie Sciortino, 94, formerly of Reese Rd., passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. She was born in Frankfort on September 24, 1916, the daughter of the late John and Nora Lodato Riente and she attended Frankfort schools. She was married to Joseph S. Sciortino on October 4, 1939 in St Mary's Church. Mr. Sciortino passed away on June 1, 1986. Mrs. Sciortino was employed as an Assembler for Union Fork and Hoe, Frankfort and later for GE, Utica for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Columbianna Society. She was an avid Yankee fan and a great admirer of Derek Jeter. Carrie is survived by two sons and one daughter in law, Michael Sciortino of Frankfort and John and Maria Sciortino of Mohawk; two sisters, Mary Acquaviva and Julie Lilli both of Frankfort; her brother in law and sister in law, Vito and Kate Sciortino of Herkimer; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Rose Sharrino and one brother, Anthony J. Riente. Her funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the V.Rev. Anthony Barratt and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 8-10 am at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carrie's memory may be made to the Mohawk Valley Healthcare Facility's Physical Therapy Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
