Frankfort - Ms. Catherine (Kate) J. Norod (Nurod), 92, of Mann St, passed away peacefully on, Monday, December 26, 2016 in Little Falls Hospital. Kate had been a past resident of Clare Bridge in Clinton and currently resided at Valley Health Services in Herkimer.
Kate was born in Frankfort on August 5, 1924, the youngest child of the late Mary Frances (Leno) and Nicholas Norod (Onorato). She attended Frankfort schools and graduated with the class of 1944. She worked in the payroll department at General Electric on French Rd. for many years until her retirement in 1985. While living in the Norod homestead, Kate enjoyed tending to her flowers, caring for her vegetable garden and picking those huge apples from the tree. She enjoyed her many travels to Florida, Mexico, Hawaii, Canary Islands, Rio de Janiero and several trips throughout Europe, especially enjoying Italy. She loved playing the slots at the casino.
Kate is survived by her sister, Carmelina Minosh of Frankfort; her sister in law, Elizabeth Norod of Ohio; nieces and nephews including Mary Ellen Shevat, Samuel Shevat, Rosemary Minosh, Donald Minosh, Pauline Cesarini and many others. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Dominick and Mamie Nurod, Michael and Anna Norod, Mary and Anthony Cirelli, Frank and Josephine Norod, Joseph Norod, Elizabeth and Alfred Barberio, Eugene Norod, George and Theresa Nurod, Salvatore and Margaret Norod, SSgt. Samuel Norod, US Army KIA WWII, Margaret and Samuel Shevat and Dominick Minosh, Jr.
Her funeral will be held Monday morning, January 9, 2017 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St, Frankfort, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena, pastor. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Honoring Aunt Kate's wishes, there will be no public calling hours.
Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
Kate's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Nurses and Staff of Valley Health Services and Little Falls Hospital, 3rd floor, for the wonderful care and kindness shown to her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 412 S. Frankfort St. Frankfort, NY 13340 or to Valley Health Services, 690 W. German St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the church.
