Frankfort - Mrs.Marion Sciortino, 98, of 522 S. Litchfield Street passed away peacefully Monday, March 15, 2010 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
She was born in Frankfort on July 6, 1911, the daughter of the late Peter and Josephine Congelo Caiola and was educated in Frankfort Schools. She was married to Anthony T. Sciortino on June 13, 1936 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. Sciortino passed away on June 2, 1982. Marion was a Seamstress for Joy Taylor Dress Shop in Mohawk until her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church and a member of the Columbianna Society, the Addolorata Society, International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Altar Rosary Society.
Marion is survived by her son and daughter in law, Michael and Doloris Sciortino of Frankfort; one sister, Mary Caiola of Frankfort; two brothers and sisters in law, Anthony and Mary Caiola of Frankfort and Peter and Carmela Caiola of N. Hills, CA; one brother in law and two sisters in law, Vito And Kate Sciortino of Herkimer and Carrie Sciortino of Ilion; and her grandson, Anthony and his wife, Heather Sciortino of PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Carl Caiola and two sisters, Virginia Caiola and Mamie DiSano.
Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 10:00 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Leo Potvin, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Spring Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions in Marion's memory may be made to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 408 S. Frankfort St., Frankfort, NY 13340 or to Addolorata Society, c/o Matia Laura, 235 First Ave., Frankfort, NY 13340.
