Bill Barry posted a condolence

I entered the US Navy shortly after '59 graduation from OCHS and never returned to Oswego for more than a week or so every few years. The one thing I took with me was the fond memories I had growing up there and my days at Catholic High, which Billy Gallagher was a big part of, along with Freddie Elkin, Mike Crane and many others. Bill was the foundation for our whole class, Charming, lovable, talented, intelligent, and a trip to be around.
I had the pleasure of running into Bill and Bobby Odin at Madison Square Garden several years ago and garnered a glimpse of his family life in Herkimer. I will miss him dearly and wish a "God Bless" to all his family.

My sincere condolences to Bill's family. I was a friend, Oswego neighbor, classmate at St. Paul's and OCHS and recently celebrated our 50th reunion with Bill & '59 classmates. We had a few phone conversations following our reunion and really caught up on our 50 years. I want you to be assured of how much he loved caring for his grand children. They gave him great pleasure. He was a wonderful man who was trustworthy, had a great smile, and good sense of humor. I treasure our friendship and fond memories. Know that I will keep Bill and you in my prayers. I am so sorry for your great loss.

We all just feel so sad for your loss. My best memory of B-Gal was dancing with him at my wedding to Van Morrison's "Into the Mystic". He loved that song and would smile and play the "air trumpet" along with the song. He loved music, laughter, friends, and his family. We all can take away so much from how he lived his life. Many blessings to the Gallagher family.

I was so saddened to learn of the passing of your father. I have many memories of your dad playing softball with my father and all of you visiting during the parties & card games at my parent's house when we were all much younger. He always had such a warm, friendly smile and was filled with so much laughter and a love of life. Please accept my most sincere condolences and know that I will keep both your dear father and all of you in my prayers. God Bless you all.

mike, Tom, Joe and Ann..I am deeply saddened by the loss of your father. Although it has been many years since last I saw him..he was always very kind to me, my family and especially my Dad. I will always remember coming home on leave and umpiring the over 40 league in softball..and then going to the polish club for a couple of cold ones. I hope you find comfort in knowing your dad was loved and respected by all the people he knew. May God keep you all during your time of sorrow. My best to all of you.

To the entire "Gal" family:
I'm having trouble finding the words to express my sympathies for your loss. We all considered B-Gal as one of the guys, and he will truly be missed. God knows his musical taste's were the best in the family! I can remember many a late night back in the day of spinning some old vinyl at 108 Henry St. As sad as we all all, lets try to remember all of the good times. You're all in our thoughts and prayers.

Tom, Mike, Joe, & Ann: My sincere sympathy goes out to you at the loss of your father. I'm Bill's cousin and we may have met several years ago at our family reunion at Lake Ontario. My world is now emptier but I have many fond memories of Bill, with his infectious grin and "killer" dimple. I will miss running into and reminiscing with him at Oswego's Harborfest and hearing him say things like, "I've had a drink, which is my wont." I will miss his humor, his friendliness, his presence.... And, to Billy's siblings, Dennis, Peggy, Mary, & Dr. Susie, my thoughts and sympathy are with you as well. You will all be in my prayers. We(Joan and I) are deeply sorry for your loss and will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. Bill and I go way back to high school days. We played basketball and baseball together. Besides his sports prowess (especially basketball) Bill had an excellent singing voice and wasn't afraid to show it off. Fortunately, I got to see him at our recent 50-yr high school reunion in Oswego...he will be sorely missed. My prayers and thoughts go out to his extended family.

Mr. Gallagher was a great gentlemen. I know that O'Briens enjoyed his hospitality at the Gallagher house countless times through the years growing up and count them as some of our greatest memories. What a fun, welcoming place he made it. People sometimes overuse the word nice, but it genuinely described Mr. G: he was a truly nice guy. I'm glad I ran into him a few years ago and we had a nice talk. Deepest sympathies.

Dear Tom, Mike, Joe, and Ann,
I am so very sorry for your loss. It's unimaginable! When Dave told me today, the memory of your Dad that came immediately to mind was this one. It was the first Irishfest, and he was there with Tom and Dave and laughing so hard at the stories they were telling. As the day went on, the stories seemed to get even more hilarious, and everyone laughed even harder. What a fun time. He really seemed to get so much joy from being with all of you, and your friends, as well.
Your Dad was a such good friend to our Dad and our family, and my heart goes out to you all. May God bless you always. Cheryl
