Herkimer - Mr. Raymond A. Sczerbaniewicz, 70, of 310 John Ave passed away peacefully Friday, February 26, 2010 in his home.
He was born in Herkimer on September 9, 1939, the son of the late John and Mary Hugick Sczerbaniewicz.He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1957. He later attended and graduated from MVCC with a degree in HVAC and Plumbing. Ray served with the NYS National Guard for many years. Mr. Sczerbaniewicz was employed by Univac, ICL and later for General Electric, French Rd plant. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member Salisbury Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club. He will always be remembered for his love of gardening and hunting.
Raymond is survived by three brothers & sisters in law, Joseph & Pearl Sczerbaniewicz of Schuyler, Edward & Betsy Sczerbaniewicz of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ and Leo & Lorraine Sczerbaniewicz of Whitesboro; three sisters and one brother in law, Josephine Widay of Herkimer, Irene & Ron Szatko of Ilion and Stella Sczerbaniewicz of Herkimer; his brother in law, James Shearer of Clifton Park; his beloved canine, Scotty and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Victoria Shearer in November of 2008.
His funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 AM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless, pastor. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
