Herkimer - Mrs. Gladys Dypa, 97, of 212 Stimson St. passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital.
She was born in New York Mills on April 20, 1912, the daughter of the late Stanley and Elizabeth Sambor Hamelik and she attended schools there. She was married to Anthony Dypa on August 22, 1931 in St. Joseph's Church. Mr. Dypa passed away on November 16, 1987. Mrs. Dypa was employed with Standard Furniture, Herkimer for many years until her retirement in 1974. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, a member of its Rosary Society and of the Herkimer Senior Citizens.
Gladys is survived by two daughters, Patricia Rickard of Herkimer and Roberta Farouche of Frankfort; her granddaughter, Alesia and her husband, Anthony Forlenza of Frankfort; one sister, Alfreda Czwalga of Yorkville; her nieces and nephews, Paul and his wife, Peggy Remizowski, Sandy and her husband, Michael Kelly and Ronald and his wife, Paula Hamelik; her great niece and nephew, Elizabeth Remizowski and William Kelly and several cousins. She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Deborah Rickard on April 16, 2003, two brothers; Matthew Hamelik and William Hamelik; two sisters, Viola Lutowski and Nellie Aigner and one nephew, David Czwalga.
Her funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 12:30 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 1:00 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday morning from 10:30 to 12:30 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the Herkimer Senior Citizens will meet Friday morning at 11:00 and the Rosary Society at 11:30 at the funeral home for services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gladys' memory may be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
