Frankfort - Mr. Sam F. Valent
Frankfort - Mr. Sam F. Valent, 92, of 111 Second Ave passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 22, 2009 with his loving family by his side in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
He was born in Frankfort on March 23, 1917, the son of the late Stefano and Santa Pullaro Valent. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the class of 1936. He served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 21st General Hospital and was Honorably Discharged on November 24, 1945 as a T4. He was married to Carmela Casullo on February 16, 1946 in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls. Mr. Valent was employed as an Assembler for Univac, Ilion & Utica Plants for 35 years and later for Remington Arms, Ilion. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.
Sam is survived by his wife, Carmela Valent; two sons & daughters in law, Dennis & Jean Valent of Herkimer and David & Elaine Valent of Mason, OH; one daughter & son in law, Linda & David Tripoli of Schuyler; his grandchildren, Valerie & her husband, Everett Pietras, Jason Valent, Samantha Valent, David Valent and his fiancée, Amy Miyoshi, Andrea Valent, David Tripoli and Daniel Tripoli; in laws, Lena Novak, Mary Lewis, John Casullo and Connie Casullo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Valent and Anthony Valent and one sister, Mary Feola.
His funeral will be held Friday morning at 11:00 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 11:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc
Sam's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the MVNH 4th floor especially Sue, Beverly, Tracy, Becky, Amanda and Nancy for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his stay and passing.
