East Herkimer - Mrs. Mary Elnicky, 96, of 308 W. Carney Ave passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 in Little Falls Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born in Yawara, Austria, on November 17, 1912, the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Yaworski and she attended schools there. She was married to Jacob Elnicky on March 11, 1929 in Ukraine. The couple came to the United States in 1930 and settled in Little Falls. Mr. Elnicky passed away on August 5, 1997. Mary was at one time employed as an assembler for Gilbert Mills, Little Falls and later by MDS for many years. She was a devout Orthodox Christian and a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and its St. Anne's Society.
Mary is survived by one daughter & son in law, Johanna & Maynard Brown of E. Herkimer; two sons, Michael Elnicky of Salt Lake City, UT and John Elnicky of E. Herkimer; one sister, Theresa Yaworski of Ukraine; her grandchildren, Sharon Brown Burns & her husband, Neal, of New Hartford, Maynard (Rick) & his wife, Kelly Brown III of East Herkimer, Ronald Brown of East Herkimer, Michael & his wife, Ann Elnicky of Salt Lake City, UT, Michele Elnicky of Salt Lake City, UT, John Robert & his wife, JoAnne Elnicky of Reston, VA, Christopher & his wife, Brooke Elnicky of Rochester and Sarah Elnicky of Sweden; her great grandchildren, Travis Elnicky, Justin Elnicky and Clara Elnicky all of Salt Lake City, UT, Jennifer Brown, Ericka Brown and Maynard Brown IV all of East Herkimer and Aidan Joseph Elnicky of Reston, VA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter in law, Claire Elnicky, three brothers, Steve Yaworski, Ludwig Yaworski and Charles Yaworski and one sister, Victoria Yaworski.
Her funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 10:00 am in S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church with the Archpriest James Jadick, officiating . Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the funeral home with Father Jadick officiating. Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Main St., E. Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Mary's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Movac, Little Falls Hospital's 3rd floor CCU and ER and Dr. Adamson for the wonderful care and kindness shown to her during her illness and passing.
