Obituary of Eleanor E. Karecki

Herkimer - Ms. Eleanor E. Karecki, 82, of 228 Stimson St passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born in Herkimer on November 2, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Szpera Karecki. She attended Syracuse and Herkimer schools. Eleanor was employed in the Dietary Department of Folts for many years. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of it's Rosary Society, the Polish Community Home Aux. and served as a volunteer and a member the Marcy Outreach Center Aux. Eleanor was an avid bingo player. Eleanor is survived by three sisters and two brothers in law, Irene & Walter Czuryla of Herkimer, Frances Schiedel of Sacramento, CA and Dolores & Dominick Aloisio of Herkimer; her two sisters in law, Peggy Sosnoski of Herkimer and Loretta Karecki of Oswego; her nieces and nephews, Karen Czuryla Brittelli, Walter & his wife, Theresa Czuryla, Valerie & her husband Mark Webster, Joseph Karecki, Deborah & her husband, Randy Ritskes, Carol Perry, Richard Tarasewicz, Theodore & his wife, Beverly Sosnoski and Peter Tarasewicz; her special great nieces and nephews, Jillian, Jenna, Ryan and Jack and several cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Karecki and Theodore Sosnoski and one sister, Anna Tarasewicz. Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the Rosary Society will meet Friday evening at 6:30 at the funeral home for services. In lieu of flowers contributions in Eleanor's memory may be made to Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, NY 13350 or the Herkimer Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
