Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Litchfield - Michael Jackson, 90, of 374 Butcher Rd. passed away peacefully Monday, February 23, 2009 in Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford. He was born in Frankfort on July 17, 1918, the son of the late Oscar and Mary Camerona Jackson. He attended Frankfort, Mohawk and Utica schools. He was married to Carmel Costello on June 6, 1942 in Frankfort Italian Methodist Church. Mr. Jackson was co-owner and operator of Jackson Farm in Litchfield with his brother Dominick from 1939 until 1974 and partners with his son Bob until retirement in 1985. Even after retirement he continued his love of nature and the out of doors. He could also be seen by friends and neighbors outside on his lawn mower every day. Mike was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church of Frankfort, the Cedarville Fire Department, and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. He was an avid bowler and for many years drove a snow plow for the Town of Litchfield. Michael is survived by his loving wife Carmel Jackson; two sons, Michael Jackson Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Delmar, Robert Jackson and his wife Patricia of Litchfield; two granddaughters, Colleen and Meghan Jackson of Delmar; three grandsons, Nicholas Jackson of Delmar, Shawn Jackson of Litchfield, and Scott Jackson and his wife Jennifer of Parish; a beloved great-grandson Ryan Scott Jackson; five sisters-in-law, Mary Jackson, Eva Camerona, Phyllis Jones, Francis Roberts and her husband Gerald, Irene Deaveans and her husband Jack. Michael was predeceased by his brother Dominick Jackson and brother-in-law Anthony Costello. He greatly missed his cousins, Marty, Mooch and Mike, as well as his good friend Harold Rasbach, who also predeceased him. Mike loved his life long profession of dairy farming, surpassed only by his love for his family. He was a good and kind man, who did not suffer fools at all, but was always there when needed by any neighbor or friend. In return he was loved by all who knew him and surrounded by good and loving people, notably Dick Lewek and Betsy Walker, the Rasbach Family, Florida Provenzano and so many more friends and neighbors. His funeral will be held Friday, February 27, 2009 at 10:30am in Morning Star United Methodist Church of Frankfort. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Services at the Church will be conducted by the Reverend Robert Wollaber and friends and neighbors are welcome to join the family for refreshments in the church hall immediately following the service. Spring interment will be in Oak View Cemetery. Contributions in Michael's memory may be made to Morning Star United Methodist Church of Frankfort, 4224 Acme Rd, Frankfort, NY 13340.
