Mrs. Lucy Losito
Herkimer - Mrs. Lucy E. Losito, 77, of Pine Ave, Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at her home.
She was born in Herkimer, NY, on February 1, 1931. Lucy was the daughter of the late, Anthony and Teresa (Biase) Macri. She was a graduate of Herkimer School. On November 7, 1957, Lucy was united in marriage to Nicholas A. Losito at St. Anthony's Church in Herkimer. They had a blessed union of 49 years until his passing on December 20, 2002. She was formerly employed at the Evening Telegram as a secretary and at one time she worked for Hummel's and Costello's Paving doing secretarial work as well. She was a faithful parishioner of Sts. Anthony and Joseph's Church.
Lucy was also a member of the Sts. Anthony and Joseph's Church Crafty Ladies Club and a member of the Junior Miss Club, where Lucy would meet her friends from high school. At their meetings they would get together to go to a restaurant, to the movies, the Frankfort Marina, or to each other's houses. Most importantly, Lucy and her friends would reminisce about the good days from back in high school and enjoy each other's company.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her husband and three children. Lucy took great pride in her home as well as caring for her family. She was also a special woman to her five grandchildren. They were the center of her world and she was the center of theirs. They held their grandmother close to their hearts because very special to them. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends and all that knew her.
She is survived by her beloved children: two sons, Nicholas and his wife Maureen of Queensbury, NY, Anthony Losito of Utica, NY, and a daughter, Mary Conklin and her husband Gary of Mohawk, NY; five special grandchildren, Megan, Nick and Alyse Losito, and Benjamin and Andrew Conklin; five cherished sisters with whom she had a special bond, Catherine Parise of Phoenix, AZ, Clara Potenza of Franfort, NY, Mary Petracca of Herkimer, NY, Rita Varano and her husband Francis of Herkimer, NY, Frances Talarico of Broadalbin, NY, and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Macri of Herkimer, NY. She is also survived by her in-laws; Rocco and Josephine Losito, Vito and Mary Losito, Lucy and Richard Carbone, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Lucy was predeceased by her parents as well as her brothers; Nick Macri, Anthony "Sonny" Macri and his wife Evelyn, Peter Macri, her sisters; Anna Smith and her husband George, Antionette Costello and her husband Mike, Elizabeth Bonilla and her husband Anthony, Carmella Furlong and her husband James, her in-laws, Catherine and Sandy Cushman, Ruth and Rocco Cuccharia, and Mary and Frank Muto, nephews; Jimmy Furlong and Frank Muto, and a niece; Roxanne Cuccharia.
The family would like to thank Bob Watkins for all of his help and kindness that he showed Lucy in the past couple of years.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, September 20, 2008 at 10:00 Sts. Anthony and Joseph's Church, South Main St., Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.
