Herkimer- Mr. Frank Jalowiec, 82, of 417 N. Prospect St passed away Friday, July 25, 2008 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Utica on January 24, 1926, the son of the late Peter and Catherine Kalita Jalowiec and he attended Utica schools. Frank served with the US Army Corps of Engineers during World War II in the Philippines, Luzon and with the Occupation Forces in Japan as a Corporal. He was married to Frances Jungiewicz on May 29, 1955 in St. Mary's Church, New York Mills. Mr. Jalowiec was employed as a Mill Wright for Bendix and later for Lucas Aerospace, Utica for many years until his retirement in 1991. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church. Frank's loves included fishing- especially in Alaska, carpentry, gardening, hunting, and golf. He was extremely humble and loved to cater to his family.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Frances Jalowiec; two sons & daughters in law, Dr David & his wife, Danielle Jalowiec of Herkimer and Daniel & his wife, Janice Jalowiec of Rochester; two daughters & sons in law, Donna & her husband David Findlay of Athol, MA and Kathy Jalowiec-Stanton & her husband, Scott of Oneonta; his cherished grandchildren, David Jonathan Findlay, Michael Findlay, Christopher Jalowiec, Anastasia Jalowiec, Jennifer Stanton, Andrew Stanton, Olivia Jalowiec, Josiah Jalowiec, Levi Jalowiec, Micah Jalowiec, Savannah Jalowiec; one sister, Jenny Jalowiec of Utica; two brothers & sisters in law, Stanley & Helen Jalowiec and Walter & Florence Jalowiec all of Utica; his in laws, Frank Furgal of New York Mills, Albina Jalowiec of Yorkville and Julie & Sam Nigrelli of Buffalo; his very special niece, Suzanne Furgal and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, John Jalowiec.
His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 9:30 am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Vail. Interment will be in St Stanislaus & Casimir Cemetery with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Frank's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Luke's CCU for the wonderful care shown to him during his illness and passing and they would like to extend a special thank you to Frank Furgal and his daughter, Suzanne for the very special help given to him.
