Frankfort - Mr. Frank A. De Fazio, 88, of 211 Fifth Ave passed away peacefully Thursday, May 29, 2008 in his home. He was born in Utica on October 10, 1919 the son of the late Frank and Grace Nicolette De Fazio. He attended Utica schools and graduated from Proctor High School. He served with the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater as a Corpsman assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. He was Honorably Discharged on November 13, 1945 and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Frank was married to Josephine R. Gatto on November 24, 1945 in St. Mary's Church. Josephine passed away on November 24, 1998. Mr. De Fazio was employed by the Department of Defense, Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome for many years until his retirement in 1987. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845, Frankfort having served as Adjutant Officer and Treasurer and also as Past Commander from 1989-1990. He was also a member of the St. Francis Di Paolo Society and served as Treasurer. Frank was a beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather and is survived by one daughter & son in law, Lucretia & Joseph Rich of Myrtle Beach, SC; one granddaughter, Nicole & her husband, Robert Terrell; one grandson, Joseph Frank Rich, Esq.; two great granddaughters, Alexis "Petunia" Terrell and Dominique "Rosebud" Terrell; one sister in law, Dora De Fazio of Utica; his three nieces, Valerie & her husband, Richard Simpson, Lena & her husband, Larry Smith and Patty & her husband, Dominick Vita; a special cousin, Charlotte Durse; his close friend and companion, Michael Lombardi and several cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Sam De Fazio and one sister, Beatrice Tresoline His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Barratt. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the US Navy. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3-7 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the St. Francis Society will meet Sunday evening at 6:00 and the American Legion at 6:15 at the funeral home for services.
