Obituary of Leonard R. Lasher

Frankfort - Mr. Leonard R. Lasher, 73, of 4184 Acme Rd passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. He was born in Waterville on August 6, 1934, the son of the late Earl and Leola Switzer Lasher and he attended schools there. Leonard served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Colahan and was Honorably Discharged on June 21, 1955 with the rank of Machinist Mate Fireman. He was married to Muriel Smith on October 22, 1953 in Frankfort United Methodist Church. Mr. Lasher was employed as a Consultant for MDS and later for PEMS, Little Falls for many years until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of Frankfort United Methodist Church and the Young At Heart Senior Citizens Bowling League at Thurston Lanes. Leonard is survived by his beloved wife, Muriel Lasher; three sons, Gary Lasher and his companion, Marsha Peach of Little Falls, Mark Lasher of Utica and Daniel Lasher of Frankfort; one sister, Shirley Herring of Mohawk; his daughter in law, Karen Lasher of Ilion; his grandchildren, Matthew Lasher, Michael Lasher, Jessica Lasher and PFC Zachary Lasher serving with the US Army in Afghanistan & his companion, Stephanie Gay; his in laws, Betty Vanderbilt, Curtis & Mary Louise Smith and Carol Rex all of Ilion, Nancy Ebersol of Munnsville and Hollis & Rose Smith of Hamilton; his close friend, Lewis Hoage of Ilion and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Hunter in 1964 and Marion Rossitano in 1991 and one brother, James Carr in 1962 His funeral will be held Monday morning at 11:00 am in the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of the Frankfort United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park with full military honors. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 4-7 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Leonard's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Dialysis Unit for the wonderful care shown to him.
