Mr. Charles Palumbo
Frankfort - Mr. Charles Palumbo, 86, of 227 Third Ave passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
He was born in Frankfort on July 11, 1921, the son of the late Paul and Concetta Polizzi Palumbo and he attended Frankfort Schools. Charlie served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 634th Tank Division and was Honorably Discharged on December 3, 1945 and had attained the rank of Sergeant. He was married to Josephine Lo Re on September 4, 1948 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. Palumbo was employed as a Heat Treater for Chicago Pneumatic, Utica for 34 years until his retirement in 1983. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845, Chicago Pneumatic 25 Year Club and the AFL-CIO and served as it's Treasurer for over 20 years. Charlie was an avid hunter, fisherman and poker player.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Josephine Palumbo; two daughters & sons in law, Connie & Christopher Giambrone of Frankfort and Mary Ann & Thomas Marine of Clinton; one son, Paul Palumbo of Frankfort; one brother & sister in law, Anthony & Marie Palumbo of Frankfort; one sister & brother in law, Florence & Sandy Bono of Frankfort; two sisters in law, Betty Tarnacki of Frankfort and Lucy Licari of St. Johnsville; his grandchildren and their families, Lori & Michael Cook and their children, Michael, Ryan and Brandon Cook, Christopher & Bre' Giambrone and their children, Chase and Ashton Giambrone, Michael & Nicole Giambrone, Justin & Muriel Palumbo and their children, Jordan, Jacob and Madylen Palumbo, Melinda & Carl Vogel and their children, Billy, Sydney and Taryn, Adrienne & Michael Loiacano and their daughter, Reina Loiacano and Gina Giambrone & Matt Mc Lean and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Palumbo and Sam Palumbo and two sisters, Mary Palumbo and Vita Burrell.
His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 9:30 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
