Mrs. Helen Sobolowski Herkimer-Middleville - Mrs. Helen Sobolowski, 89, formerly of Prospect St Herkimer and Middleville passed away Monday, July 9, 2007 in Valley Health Services. She was born in Bayonne, NJ on July 18, 1917, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Cymbalak Brelinsky and she attended West Neighborhood schools. She was married to Michael Sobolowski on October 6, 1934 in SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church by the Rev. Fr. Homka. Helen & Michael were the owners and operators of their family farm in Middleville until their retirement in 1971. Michael passed away on December 27, 1993. Helen was at one time employed by Borden's, Newport and later as a Nurses Aide for Herkimer Hospital and lastly for Folts Home for many years. She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and it's Sisterhood. Helen will always be known for her outstanding baking ability. Helen is survived by two sons & one daughter in law, George Sobolowski of Pell City, AL and Nicholas & Shelby Sobolowski of Camden; five daughters and two sons in law, Mary Bisely of Dallas, TX, Elizabeth Enders of Canastota, Ann & John Garro of Clinton, Barbara & Larry Daley of Herkimer and Jane Sobolowski of Prospect Heights, IL. She is also survived by four sisters & one brother in law, Julia & Peter Kowalczyk of Herkimer, Sadie Steciak of Deland, FL, Mary Sidoran of Barneveld and Tina Stanley of Denver, CO; one brother & sister in law, John & Winnie Brelinsky of Middleville; her daughter in law, Charmaine Sobolowski of Newport; one sister in law, Sandra Brelinsky of Herkimer; twenty four grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son, Stephen Sobolowski, three brothers, Louis, Joseph and Steve Brelinsky, one daughter in law, Charlotte Sobolowski, two sons in law, Jack Enders and Robert Bisely and her mother, Anna Brelinsky. Her funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 from the Petykiewicz Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 10:30 in S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church with the Archpriest James M. Jadick, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Wednesday evening at 8:00 with Father Jadick, officiating. In lieu of floral offerings, contributions in Helen's memory maybe made to St. Tikhon's Seminary Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Helen's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Service which she considered her extended family.
