Mrs. Bernice Valent
Frankfort - Mrs. Bernice Valent, 88, formerly of Second Ave passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 in Folts Home.
She was born in Little Falls on July 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Anthony and Italia Cinquanta Taverni. She attended Little Falls schools. She was married to Anthony G. Valent on February 2, 1946 in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls by The Rev. Joseph Connelly. Anthony passed away on January 6, 1987. Mrs. Valent was employed as a seamstress for several area dress shops for many years until her retirement in 1978. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845 Aux., Frankfort, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, the Young At Heart Senior Citizens, Frankfort and served as a volunteer at the London Towers, Ilion.
Bernice is survived by one son & daughter in law, Steve & Joan Valent of N. Utica; one daughter, Sandra Burns of Greer, SC; four grandchildren, Crissy & her husband, Chad Martin of Columbia, SC, Cindi & her husband, Ryan Baum of N. Utica, Michael Valent of N. Utica and Jason Davis of Taylors, SC; two great grandsons, Zachary Baum and Micah Disch; two brothers & sisters in law, Bernard & Angie Taverni and Ugo & Marie Taverni all of Little Falls; her brother in law & sister in law, Sam & Carm Valent of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Jerry Taverni, one sister, Elisa Fantera and one great grandson, Joseph Alexander Baum.
Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 9:00 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 9:30 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas, pastor. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 3-7 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young At Heart Senior Citizens are asked to meet Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at the funeral home for services. Bernice's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Claxton Manor and Folts Home for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her stay and passing.
