Obituary of Ida J. Korba

Mrs. Ida J. Korba Herkimer-Ilion - Mrs. Ida J. Korba, of Eatonville Rd passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in the home of her daughter and son in law, Carol & Thomas Powers. She was born in Herkimer the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Komarowski Lupinski and she attended Herkimer schools. She was married to Nicholas J. Korba Sr. on May 17, 1947 in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. Ida and Nick enjoyed a blessed union of 39 years until his passing on November 11, 1986. Mrs. Korba was employed as a seamstress for several local dress factories until her retirement in 1971. She was a Communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of its Rosary Society and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Ida's love was her family and baking for her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and was an avid Yankee fan. Ida is survived by her daughter & son in law, Carol & Thomas Powers with whom she resided; one son & daughter in law, Nicholas & Dawn Korba of Ilion; her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas J. Korba III, Christina Korba, Matthew Powers and Christopher Powers; her step brother, Theodore & his wife, Elfreda Bojdak of Deerfield; her in laws, Julia Scram, Tillie Kiesel and Adam & Lucille Korba; her special cousin, Edith Burns and family of CO; a very close and beloved friend, Father Robert Shinos and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers & sister in law, Anthony Lupinski and Edward & Mary Lupinski, her step brother & and his wife, John & Josephine Bojdak and her step father, Konstanty Bojdak. Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 am in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Monday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the Rosary Society will meet Monday at 4:30 at the funeral home.
