Mr. Philip J. Filingeri Frankfort - Mr. Philip J. Filingeri, 79, of 115 First Ave passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital. He was born in Frankfort on February 10, 1928, the son of the late Salvatore and Crocifissa "Sophie" Mannino Filingeri. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the class of 1945. Phil served during the Korean War with the US Navy from January 2, 1946 until his Honorable Discharge on April 5, 1956 with the rank of Petty Officer. He later attended and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson College, Teaneck, NJ in May of 1969 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Phil was united in marriage to Maxine Leighton on August 17, 1974 in Frankfort. Maxine passed away on November 22, 2003. Mr. Filingeri was a Program Analyst for the Department of the Army, Dover, NJ until his retirement on February 25, 1983. He was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845 and the St. Francis Di Paolo Society. Philip is survived by one brother & sister in law, Vincent & Margaret Filingeri of Frankfort; two sisters & one brother in law, Carmela & Peter Caiola of North Hills, CA and Julie Simeti of Nanuet, NY; three sons & two daughters in law, Patrick W. Parent III of Tupper Lake, Michael J. & Valerie Parent of Otego and Shaun D. & Jan Parent of Battle Ground, WA; five grandchildren, Monica Beth Hughes, Patricia Sutliff, Ian Parent, Alicia Holloway and Amanda Rementeri; five great grandchildren; his nieces, nephews and godchildren, Andrea & her husband, Mark Barbato, James & his wife, Kelly Filingeri, Thomas & his wife, Linda Simeti, Josephine & her husband, Dolan Sittig, Steven & his wife, Michele Caiola, Maria Caiola and Anthony & his wife, Sharon Caiola and several great nieces, great nephews and cousins. His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 9:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-5 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions in Philip's memory may be made to the Frankfort Fire Dept. Memorial Park Fund, 158 Litchfield St, Frankfort, NY, 13340, Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church or Valley Health Services, 690 W. German St. Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Phil's family would like to thank the many members of the staff at VHS who cared for Phil; especially the nursing staff and aides of 2W for all the kindness and respect they showed him.
