Frankfort - Mr. Samuel P. Diliberto, 87, of 115 Second Ave passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007 in Folts Home.
He was born in Frankfort on January 27, 1920, the son of the late Sylvester and Rosalie Randazzo Diliberto and he attended Frankfort schools. He served with the CCC in Speculator. He was married to Martha M. Puleo on September 5, 1942 in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica. Mr. Diliberto was a Canal Tender for New York State Department of Transportation, Herkimer for many years until his retirement in 1983. Sam & Martha were the owners and operators of their family truck farm for many years. He was at one time employed by Griffiss Air Force Base as a Heavy Equipment Operator and the Town of Frankfort DPW. He was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, a member of the Polish Community Home and the V.F.W Post #502, Frankfort - Ilion
Sam is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Martha M. Diliberto; three daughters & two sons in law, Rosalie Scalise & David Stritmater of Frankfort, Mamie & Stephen McCauley of OH and Angeline & Kerry Oldfield of Herkimer; four sisters, Grace Bono, Tina Costanza, Betty Caparuso all of Frankfort and Lena Cicculli of OH; three brothers & sisters in law, James & Inez Diliberto of Utica, Joseph & Nancy Diliberto of Frankfort and Benny & Dot Diliberto of Rome; his grandchildren, Clement Scalise & Kayla Grumbine, Sam & his wife, Erin Scalise, Julie Scalise, Michael & his wife, Isabel Scalise, Kerry & his wife, Melissa Oldfield, Martha Oldfield and Laura Oldfield; two great grandchildren, Brianna Scalise and Ethan Scalise and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Nick Diliberto, Paul Diliberto and Silver Diliberto.
His funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, Pastor Emeritus. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Monday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions in Sam's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association Mohawk Valley Chapter, 247 Elizabeth St, Utica, NY, 13501 or Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Sam's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Nurses and staff of the Folts Home 5th floor especially Richard, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his stay and passing.
