Mr. Joseph F. Enjem Herkimer - Mr. Joseph F. Enjem, 84, of 705 Walnut St passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006 in Valley Health Services. He was born in Ilion on April 2, 1922, the son of the late Francis and Matilda Hattem Enjem. He attended Ilion schools and graduated from Ilion High School with the Class of 1940. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps and was Honorably Discharged on March 6, 1945. He was at one time married to Rose Joseph. He was married to Edith Caliguire on June 10, 1971. Joe and his brother David, were the co-owners and operators of Enjem's Carpets, Rome, Utica, Herkimer and it's Contract Division for many years until his retirement in 1985. He was a Communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #518, Ilion, Ilion Elks BPOE Lodge #1444, Civil Air Patrol, Quiet Birdmen, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Aero Club and Galaxy Aviators. He was an avid pilot who had attained his Commercial Multi-Engine Rating and he was a very well respected pilot in the local aviation community. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Edith Enjem; three sons & daughters in law, Anthony & Eileen Enjem of New Hartford, Francis & Bonnie Enjem of Frankfort and Joseph & Mary Enjem of Herkimer; one brother & sister in law, David & Rose Enjem of Ft. Myers, FL & Clayville; his sister in law, Rose Caliguire of Herkimer; seven grandchildren, Julie & her husband, Jerome Masi, Francis & his wife, Kristen Enjem, Anthony Enjem, Valerie & her husband, Scott Moore, Mark & his wife, Jennifer Enjem, Mary Margaret & her husband, Larry Fish and Natalie & her husband, Jason Fitch; eight great grandchildren; a very special nephew, Vincent Caliguire of Port St. Lucie, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson, Anthony J. Enjem Jr on August 25, 1965. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St., Herkimer, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Joe's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Services for the wonderful care shown to him during his stay and passing. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe's memory maybe made to the charity of ones choice. Envelopes will be available in the church vestibule. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer.
