Obituary of Raymond P Warkowski

Mr. Raymond P Warkowski Sr. Mohawk - Raymond P. Warkowski Sr., 90, of 14 Catherine St. went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion. He was born on March 11, 1916 in Herkimer, the son of the late Ludwig and Victoria Sulinska Warkowski and was a graduate of Herkimer High School, Class of 1936. On June 6, 1941, he married Betty Dubrava in Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Mrs. Warkowski went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2005. Raymond was employed as an assembler for Remington Arms, Inc., until retirement in 1978. At one time he and his wife, owned and operated the Wonderbar in Herkimer and was employed with Univac. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1935. Raymond was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer and the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club. Over the years, he won numerous awards for game fish. Raymond was also an avid hunter and trapper. Raymond is survived by his daughter, Connie Engert of Herkimer; her son, Raymond Warkowski Jr. of Mohawk; two grandchildren, Kim Torres and Dan and Linda Engert; six great grandchildren, Brandon King, Brett King, Samantha Elthorp, Brittany Engert, Kaleigh Engert and DaniLynn Engert; his sisters, Peggy Sosnoski of Herkimer and Jennie Rockwell of Mohawk; special friends, Anna and Scott King. He was predeceased by his brothers, Walter Warkowski and Frank Warkowski and his sister, Lottie Aiello. His funeral will be held 8 PM, Friday evening from Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, with Pastor Ann Zimmerman of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be 1:30 PM, Saturday in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be 5-8 PM, Friday at Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
