Mr. William G. Konick
Ilion - William G. Konick, 78, of 119 Brook Street passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford.
He was born on May 3, 1928 in Cleveland, the son of the late Michael and Julia Hatalowicz Konick. Bill was a graduate of Herkimer High School and Utica College. On May 7, 1949, he married Anne Gulowaty in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer.
Mr. Konick was employed as a quality control engineer for General Electric, Utica and at one time was employed with Univac, Inc, Utica. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer and St. Vladimir the Great Ukrainian Catholic Church, Utica. Bill was a member of the Hearty Hearts Club and was an avid golfer.
Bill is survived by his wife; Anne; his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and William Shampine of Syracuse; his grandchildren, William Shampine, Alexander Shampine and Emma Rose Shampine; his sister-in-law, Nettie Gulowaty of Syracuse; a special friend and neighbor, Margaret Trefzger and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Ronald William Konick and his brothers, Michael Konick, Jr. and John Konick.
His funeral will be held at 9:15 AM, Monday, November 6, 2006 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 10:00 am in St. Vladimir The Great Ukrainian Catholic Church where a Mass of Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Bundz. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Calling Hours will be Sunday, November 05, 2006 from 4-7 PM at Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held at 7 PM at the funeral home.
