Frankfort - Dr. Robert S. Harris, N.D., 55, of Palmer St. passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Ilion on October 22, 1959, the son of the late Robert and Theresa Barberio Harris and he attended Frankfort schools, graduating with the class of 1977. He went on to attend HCCC, Utica College, SUNY IT and Clayton College of Natural Health in Birmingham, Alabama where he received his Doctor of Naturopathy. "Dr. Bob," as he was affectionately known, was a New York State Education Department certified teacher of Biology, Chemistry, and General Science. He taught at Mt. Markham and Notre Dame High Schools where he also served a private tutor for students. He also taught at Utica College and HCCC for many years where he taught Laboratory-Based Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology for Paramedics, Nutrition, and Fundamentals of Chemistry since 2002. He was most recently serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Biological Science at HCCC. Dr. Bob was a Holistic Natural Health and Nutrition Practitioner and a Certified Energy Psychology Practitioner. He wrote several books on Anatomy, Holistic Healing and Naturopathy. He was also a proud member of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department for 31 years where he served as the Department Secretary. Over the years, he also served with the Red Cross, was a Certified Special Olympics Coach, served with the Air Force Reserves and was Head Lifeguard at the Frankfort Pool. He also was employed with MOVAC. He was communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Bob is survived by his loving companion, Mary Bowlanowski of Whitesboro; one brother and sister in law, Mark and Julie Harris of Frankfort and three nieces, Dina Marie Tedesco, his Godchild, Rebecca Lynn Harris and Juliana Rose Harris; one great-nephew, Mason Michael, his uncle, Steve Eskoff, his Godfather, Joseph Paratore and several cousins. His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday evening from 4-8 PM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department will meet at 7:30 PM for services.
