Mr. Joseph D. Caiola
Little Falls - Mr. Joseph D. Caiola, 89, of 578 E. Monroe St. passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Frankfort on December 20, 1925, the son of the late James and Cecelia Damico Caiola and he attended Frankfort schools. He was married to Rachel LaValla Palmisano on May 5, 1984 in Little Falls. Rachel and Joe proclaimed their vows in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls on November 30, 1987. Joseph was the owner and operator of Jim's Fruit Stand, Frankfort for many years and was also employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for New York State Thruway Authority, Herkimer for over 20 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and Holy Family Church. Joe was very talented and could always help fix things needed for his family and friends. He did things for others from his heart and never expected anything in return.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Rachel Caiola; one step son and daughter in law, Daniel and Debra Palmisano of Frankfort; three step grandchildren, Daniel and his wife, Kim Palmisano of Frankfort, Audrey and her husband, Michael Saracco of Long Island and Alexa Ray Palmisano of Frankfort; his step great grandchildren, Vincienza Palmisano, Antonia Palmisano, Daniel Palmisano, Sophia Saracco and Michael Saracco; two brothers and one sister in law, Sam Caiola and Charles and Angie Caiola all of Frankfort; three sisters, Florence Caiola, Joan Murphy both of Frankfort and Cecilia Morton of Ilion; two sisters in law, Tina Caiola of Frankfort and Mary LaValla of Little Falls and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters and brothers in law, Fanny and Angelo Nicolette, Mary and Michael Ruffalo and Rose and Sam Piazza; one brother, Peter Caiola; his in laws, Richard Murphy, Lillian Caiola, Raymond Morton and Fanny Delisle and his nephew, David Ditata
His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, May 8 from 4-8 PM at V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Joe's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Julie Perlanski and the nurses and staff of Hospice for all the wonderful care and compassion shown to him during his illness and passing.
